Grading is the prerogative of the faculty. The University Grading System is defined in the Catalog. Any deviation from that system must be approved by the department, the Dean of the College and the Vice President and Provost. Evaluation of students and award of credit must be based on professionally judged academic performance and not on matters irrelevant to that performance, as detailed in the Appendix to Code of Ethics - Faculty Responsibilities to Students Policy (Policy 3.3.12A,) and the Equal Opportunity/Non-Discrimination Statement and Policy (Policy 1.1).
