8.5.1 University Library

Milner Library is the central library facility for Illinois State University. As its primary mission, Milner Library serves the informational needs of Illinois State University, University High School, and Thomas Metcalf School students, faculty, staff, administrators, and ISU retirees. Milner Library also provides reciprocal borrowing privileges to patrons of its academic library consortial partners. The general public may use Milner Library's resources on a walk-in basis and free of charge.  Those who borrow materials from Milner Library must apply for and receive a Milner Library Courtesy Card. The resources of the Milner Computer Lab are reserved for ISU students, faculty, and staff.

For the Illinois State University campus community, each individual's Redbird Card serves as their library card. Each person will be asked to present the card at the time materials are checked out. For patrons from other consortial member libraries, a valid campus photo ID from their home institution is required at the time materials are presented for check-out. Individuals from surrounding communities will need Milner Library Courtesy Cards for checkout.
