The purpose of this policy is to identify the duties and responsibilities of the Telecommunications and Networking Unit as these duties and responsibilities pertain to the purchase, installation, and use of telecommunications and network equipment, goods, and services at Illinois State University.
This policy, and any associated procedures or guidelines, apply to anyone associated with the installation, maintenance or use of the Information Technology (IT) resources of Illinois State University.
Telecommunications and Networking has the authority to develop and recommend University-wide procedures and guidelines governing the purchase, installation, and use of the telecommunications and network equipment, goods, and services of Illinois State University. This authority also extends to the establishment of service pricing structures for such equipment, goods, and services.
Telecommunications and Networking is authorized to insure compliance with University procedures and guidelines established in connection with this policy. In the event that the security of University IT resources are compromised or illegal activities are observed, Telecommunications and Networking has the authority to take immediate action to revoke access to a single resource, a combination of resources, or to all telecommunications and networking resources, for the duration of the emergency.
The President of Illinois State University has approved the Policy on Telecommunications and Networking. This policy will be periodically reviewed by the Information Technology Policy and Planning Council and changes or additions to this policy will be recommended by this Council to the President of the University. Information technology resources and systems are changing rapidly both in terms of technology and application, and the University reserves the right to amend this policy at any time.
