Employees are not entitled to leaves of absence as a matter of right. In special cases, an academic employee may be granted a leave of absence without pay. However, the purpose of the leave of absence must be weighed against the need for the services of the applicant in carrying out his/her usual academic duties. The President should weigh carefully the benefits and the disadvantages of each individual request for leave of absence without pay for personal cause and shall authorize only those requests that meet the following conditions:
Such leaves cannot be granted for more than two consecutive years. Procedures for application are the same as those for sabbatical leaves.
